Is HIV Transmission Possible Through Protected Sex?
Hi Doctor
18 days back I had sex with a sex worker. She didnt seemed to very hygeinic. I don't know her HIV status. Though I used condom I had kissed her body. What if she had some small wounds that were not visible on her neck or breast. What if she had sex with some HIV affected men just before me and hadn't taken a bath. 3 days back I observed small heat rashes kind appearing on hands and abdomen. Yesterday I also observed a lump node kind of thing on my palm below my index finger and middle finger.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
We have to assume that all sex workers are HIV positive, their profession itself is sex only and we should not take chance. With condom (protected intercourse), HIV won't transmit.
With kissing also, HIV won't transmit unless the opposite partner has very high viral load and extensive cuts.
Rashes that you had, might be some flu or any other infection. If you still have doubt, go for Elisa test of HIV.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Siddartha
