Is HIV Transmission Possible Through Anal Sex?

Hi doctor My exposure was 30 sec insertive anal sex with unknown female, I don t know her hiv status I starting pep after 41 hours from exposure I tested std negative after 4 weeks from exposure I tested rna hiv pcr negative after 6 weeks from exposure Is that enough and can i have sex with my girlfriend without candom now ?

Hi,

HIV can spread through anal sex also. But as you have taken PEP and after six week molecular testing negative. So HIV now unlikely Usually molecular testing is positive if HIV infection there (at six week of exposure). So if you both are HIV free than sex can be done monogamous relation and use of barrier method protective against HIV.
