Is G6PD Value Ranging 0.7-0.9 A Cause For Concern?

Hello, my son is 3 month old and diagnosed with G6PD. We live in Germany but doctors here do not know much about this disease. Now it is time for vaccination. They gave him already an injection against Rotaviren and Pneumokokken. He feels ok after that. Today is the second day and he is active without fever. But the next one they want to give him is a hard vaccination 6 in 1: Hepatitus B, Tetanus, Hemolitic infections, diphtheria, whooping cough. I do not agree yet, and I am really afraid of this hard vaccination. Please help. His G6PD number is only 0,7-0,9 ( normal 7-30).

Hi..
Welcome to HCM..
thanks for the query.
G6PD deficiency as such is not a contraindication for the above said vaccines unless his general health condition is good..
In fact it protects against the common infections..
So if his weight and activity are in normal level you can go ahead with vaccination..
Hope this information is helpful to you ..
take care..
