Is Excedrin Advisable For A Migraine?

Hi my daughter has chronic daily migraines and for the last two weeks has had such horrible ones that she has had to take I matrix or Excedrin migraine every day and now is in the rebound headache cycle. I have no doctor for her except her GP and he does not know what to do to help her. She needs something to break the cycle but is allergic to steroids. What can I do? Hospitals here are no help and she is at the end of her rope and I fear what will happen if I can not get her any help.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You should be relaxed and also help your daughter to remain relaxed. If I were your treating doctor, I would like to know
- Since how long your daughter is suffering from headache problem?
- What kind of headache (unilateral, whole head, frontal region)?
- Frequency and duration of taking Excedrin? Excedrin can be used for migraine but chronic use should be avoided. In my opinion, for migraine, it is better to prevent it. Some of the preventive measures are:
- Remain relax and calm
- Have a good sleep regularly (at least 8 hours)
- Have a nutritious diet (avoid junk foods)
- Routine schedule should not be disturbed
Take medicine only when it is absolutely necessary.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Suraj Khandhedia
