General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Both the ointments are used to treat skin conditions caused due to dryness like eczema and are safe to use in a 9 month old child.

However, Eumosone contains cortico-steroid and must be used only for short-term therapy, that is for flare up of eczema.

While, Emoderm contain emollient like paraffin which can be used on regular basis to prevent eczema. Moreover, eczema is not uncommon, it is caused due to dryness and using mild body wash like Cetaphil baby wash will help prevent it. In addition to that, regular application of a moisturizer will also be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
