Is Depakote effective in the treatment of depersonalization disorder?

My VA Psychiatrist would like to prescribe depakote for me as a mood stabilizer, I exhibit no wild mood swings but have been diagnosed with Quote a Reality disorder. I have explained my reality was changed by both the Military and a direct affiliation with a Media comppany through my marriages. Much has been related to and I will attribute to the Performing Arts Industry . I am also a creative writer who trys to think outside the Box , to say something in my own defense. Ones reality is relative to others I have talked with w/ the similar situations I have faced; much is explained with the reality in life w/ death.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,

Depakote is Divalproex sodium. The drug is a good mood stabilizer and is also used in a number of other conditions.

The drug has good effectiveness in depersonalization disorder and helps to reduce the symptoms. If you have been advised to take this drug then you can go with this drug without worries. This will stabilize your mood too.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Seikhoo Bishnoi,
