congenital just means "present at birth" it doesnt mean its hereditary. most cases the cause is unknown but there is some evidence there may be a hereditary aspect in come cases

My cousin in the Philippines has congenital heart disease. Right now she is admitted to a hospital. The doctor said that she is too weak and that her case is hopeless. The hole in heart is too big along with that her lungs are too weak. Right now the doctors are not giving us any hope anymore. They keep telling us to brace ourselves for the worse. In your personal opinion as a doctor, is there any hope for her to get stronger, until we raise enough money for her heart surgery? Maybe in two months?
