Is Cepodem DS A Safe Medication For A Toddler With Breathing Problem And Fever?

hi sir, my son 3 years and 2 months old having breath problem, cold and light fever doctor suggested to take the cepodem ds 100 twise for day. is this safe ? any side effects will come. please suggest my son having some asma problem also frequently facing this problem.

Your son is having asthma, fever , breathing , problem ,cold.
Doctor advise you CEPODEM DS ( I.E. CEFPODOXIME) , yes this is a very safe antibiotics for children .
The doses are as: 8-10 mg / kg body weight in two divided doses . Virtually there are no dangerous side effects of this drug , you can give safely.
As you mentioned in the query that your son is having asthma .
So when such patient visit my clinic I only advise them to take montelukast+bambuterol syrup once in day ( 10 mg / kg body weight of both salts ) .
Usually patient respond very well .
If fever present I advise to take levofloxacin 10 mg /kg body weight ,once in 24 hours .
Light fever is usually due to allergy ( may be in your son case , I don't like to advise antibiotics in such cases ).
