Is Calcitonin A Good Substitute Of Calcitriol?

We r facing the hurricane Irma in the Tampa Bay area. I do not have my thyroid and when I had it out, am left with basically no parathyroids or they are damaged. Am taking Calcitriol 25 mcg. I could not get my prescription of calcitriol as our Pharmacy closed. I have a family member who offered for me to take their calcitronin. Will Calcitronin be a good substitute when I can t get more Calcitriol? YYYY@YYYY

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Calcitriol is Vitamin D3. Calcitonin is a hormone. Both are totally different. So don't take Calcitonin. Take your prescribed drug (Calcitriol) only.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
