Is Biaxin effective for UTI and sinus infection?

I went to my doctor today for URI symptoms with diagnosis of sinsus infection. I was prescribed Biaxin and started taking it tonight. This evening I am having urinary burning and frequency consistent with a UTI. Will the Biaxin cover both or should I call the office?

Hello,

You have been prescribed clarithromycin drug which will not cover UTI fully.

So you should consult a nearby doctor for getting prescription of broad-spectrum antibiotic like cefixime.

I suggest you investigate with urine routine microscopic examination and revert back with reports.

You should take Cranberry juice extract tablet and potassium citrate syrup as well for UTI.
