Thank goodness for Izzy's correct answer. Yes, providing you are not symptomatic it's a perfectly normal healthy variant. Of course it does depend in what situation this was taken in. If your BP is normally 140+ and all of a sudden it plummets to 90, then this may be indicative and in acute situations a plummet in BP could indicate shock etc, so 'normal' and 'good' depends on the individual in question, conditions in which it was measured and other relevant factors such as age. If this is an average reading (or there abouts) it's completely normal. Lower than average BP is only ever a problem if it's so low that it's unable to push blood around the body.

my husband is 65 years old, 6ft2 240 lbs. is a veteran and is on medications for PTSD, chloresterol, thryoid, blood pressure. His b/p is usually good but lately has been experiencing low blood pressure readings for hours at a time. example 83/59, 78/60, 90/66, 78/61. He claims to feel light headed also. His prescription for lisinopril is 10mg. What could be causing this drop in b/p for hours at a time?

Hi I have a BP monitor at home . Right now my reading is 130/86. I have a Bicuspic valve. Today I have been put on a low dose of BP medication after my clinic measured my BP at 151/113. This was taken immediately on arrival at the clinic after walking from the car park and a rather stressfull car journey. Am I right to be concerned about the starting medication on this evidence? .. I have recently had my personel BP monitor calybrated ..AGE 50 thank you
