Is Ambrodil Advisable For A Child With Severe Cold And Wheezing?

Hi doctor. My son is 1 yr 5 months old. Since birth as the season changes he catches up severe cold and cough with wheezing sound. This only gets better with antibiotics (more than one) and nebulisers. Now his doctor has concluded him allergic and has given him Ambrodil LC. Is this safe for kids.a

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of severe cold and wheezing which could be due to upper respiratory tract infection especially viral infection and it could be due to sinusitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and betadine gargles alternatively. You should give steam inhalation to child and avoid giving spicy and heavy food and consult pediatrician for proper examination. Doctor may order throat swab test and blood test for complete examination. Doctor may prescribe antiviral medications such as acyclovir along with anti inflammatory Levocetirizine. You should apply mist humidifiers in room. You should give child warm water to sip on frequent basis.
