Is Alendronate A Generic Form Of Fosamax And Has The Same Effects ?

I was given Fosamax several years ago, and had an allergic reaction. Thus I was changed to Actonel and was on it for 8 years. I have been on calcium only for about three years
My new doctor knows this history and has prescribed alendronate. From what I'm reading, alendronate is just a generic form of Fosamax. I hesitate to try it. An opinion please.
