Light sensitivity in your husband's case is probably due to corneal swelling or a corneal abrasion following injury
with the shoe. If he is experiencing a foreign body or a pricking sensation you need to rule out the presence of a small dirt or dust particle in his eye. In the event of an abrasion he requires an antibiotic and anti inflammatory medication along with an antibiotic ointment in the eye and overnight patching to give it time to heal. The antibiotic you may use is Tobramycin
eye drops 4 times a day and Ketorolac
eye drops 3 times a day. Use an antibiotic eye ointment at night and patch the eye shut. Make sure throughout that the vision in that eye does not worsen by periodically checking keeping the other eye closed.
