Namaste, Doctor saheb, i am 56 yr. old male. i had irritation and small redishness in my penis (ling side) it gives irritation and pain. doctor advised me to take FAS-3. i purchased this medicine and saw that it is for vaginal discharge. Can a male take this medicine? every year i do have this irritation and inflamation during summer when perspiration is there. why it is causing? is it viral infection or STD? Can I take FAS-3?
Hello, I understand your problem. FAS 3 is an antibiotic called Azithromycin - which has a wide range of action anywhere in the body. You can take it. As the Dr who has seen you has prescribed azithromycin - So he suspect infection. You have not mentioned the main point to arrive at a possible diagnosis - itching. Infection in the penis can be due to allergic, bacterial or viral. The probable diagnosis is very difficult to arrive. Better you rule out STD and HIV by testing them. If there is doubt of HIV you may have to repeat the test after some time. Before everything You have to rule out Diabetes. Diabetes in the initial stage may present like this.Antibiotic + Anti inflammatory + anti allergic may give some relief. If the results are normal and if you are not a diabetic, consult a dermatologist and follow his advise. Best wishes best wishes
