Hi,

Since your child is having cold and loose motions you will have to ensure that he is kept well hydrated by giving him sips of Oral Rehydration solution and coconut water.

The diet should essentially be kept light like you could give him khichidi, rice dal and soups. As far as the curd is concerned it is supposed to contain lactobacillus (probiotics) so is considered to be good in diarrhoea . If the curd is fresh and not very sour it can also be given in cold.

Hope to have answered your query.
Take care.

Pediatrician Dr. Y V Siva Sankara Murty's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Cold is because of a viral infection and there is no food (other than a balanced diet ) to treat it.

Curd should only be stopped when a person has allergy to it. There is no contraindication for curd in a person with cold. But in a infant we start milk and milk products only after the age of 8 to 12 months to prevent allergy to milk proteins.

Monitor for signs of dehydration and give ORS if he continues to have loose motions.
If he has signs of dehydration please consult your pediatrician.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

The last episode may be simple viral fever...
Loose stool may be a part of infection / or from the antibiotic, he is taking?
The most important aspect of management of diarrhoea is to maintain hydration - oral Rehydration Solution(ORS) is available Over The Counter...
Curd is not contraindicated in 'cold' - for that matter, no specific food restriction for 'cold'

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
