Infant Suffering With Severe Cold, Cough. Prescribed Phenegran, Levolin. Is It Safe?

Hi sir im divya frm india...my baby is 14 mnths old....she is sufferfing frm severe cold and cough ..i consult the doctor here he prescribed me to use phenegran(3.5 ml morning and nite) and levolin syrup(2.5 ml three times a day)...i surfed in google abt phenegran it showing phenegran should not use children below 2 years...so please let me know is it fine or any danger by using that phenegran....Thanks in advance...

You can give Phenergan in prescribed dose in your child.

It is a routine practice to advise Phenergan even in children below the age of 2 years.

But if it is given in prescribed dose, it wont lead to any side effects.

The main concern with the drug is sedation and drowsiness.

If you are concerned about the drug or child is drowsy with this medication, you can ask your doctor for an alternative medication for cold such as levocetrizine or chlorpheniramine maleate.
