Infant Having Rashes Spreading Over The Body. Swollen Lymph Nodes On The Neck, Purple Bruises On The Arm

Hi mt name is Sheryl, I have a 16 month old son who has had a red rash slowly spreading all over his body, some of the rash is his skin colour but turns bright red sometimes, he has swollen lymph glands on his neck , he has some purple looking bruises under his arm that had been spreading over the last two wees. I have seen a doctor he wanted to do some blood tests but my son seemed so happy we decided to leave it a week and see if the rash goes. Since seeing the doctor the rash has spread up both arms and is slowly starting on his back should i take him straight back to the doctors, or wait and see what happens as he still seems fine apart from the rash.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi Sheryl,
Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic.
It looks like your son might be suffering from Viral rash.
Would like to know if he suffered from fever ,cold or cough before the rash broke off?
However since this rash has been going on for 2 weeks i guess it would be worthwhile getting his blood test done at this stage.
Bye

Thanks for posting your query here.

Based on your description, it seems the rash has been ongoing for too long as compared to what I would expect in a simple viral rash (He doesnot fever or other symptoms as well). Again, lymph node swelling as you mentioned in the neck should start to settle down by this time.

I would suggest he needs to reviewed by Pediatrician again and blood testing is needed based on clinical examination findings.

Do revert back to us if you have any further queries.
