Infant has racing heart rate. On ventilator. What is wrong?

I don't know if you can answer this, but my friends great granddaughter was airlifted to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital because her heart wouldn't stop racing. She had a high fever and they got that to go down and they put her on a ventilator for her heart. Every time they take her off the ventilator her heart goes crazy. They have done tests and can't figure it out. They don't think she's going to make it and I want to try and help. The patient is about 19 months old.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

The only thing you can do is to comfort the mother.../ anybody for that matter can only do that

Aggressive symptomatic treatment is all that can be done at this stage...

Side by side, they will be doing investigations to find a curable cause - Myocarditis is highly possible in view of fever / anomalous tracts or arteries, electrolytes and so on are other possibilities...

When the child is stable, some heroic measures may be necessary or attempted.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
