Infant. Diagnosed Pulmonary Artresia. Advised Waiting For Sometime Before Surgery. What If Oxygen Saturation Level Goes Down?
hello doctor, my daughter is just 2 months old. Just 2 days after her birth, doctors found heart murmer . On further diagnosis, doctor's confirmed that she is suffering from pulmonary artresia. As her pulmonary artery is almost missing, doctors are advising us to wait for some months before going for surgery. But during this time, if her oxygen saturation level goes down, then they would be helpless. I am not sure as what to do? Can she survive for few months without any medication. Please let me know

Yes, pulmonary atresia requires surgery but the type of surgery and when to do it depends on a number of factors:
1. Type of atresia.
2. Condition of pulmonary artery.
3. Any other associated anomaly.
4. Condition of right ventricle.
As your daughter is reasonably well at 2 months of age the doctors are analysing the condition and taking a call accordingly. Hence you need not worry.
