Is Surgery The Only Option To Treat Multiple Hernias In The Digestive System?

I'm worried about my friend. She has 7 hernias, 5 in the small intestine and 2 in the colon. One is right by her stoma. Her colon is only 10 inches long. Can surgery help her? Is it possible that her intestine walls are to weak and may not function. Can another persons intestine be used to replace hers?
