I'm 68 years old and have always had one bowel

I'm 68 years old and have always had one bowel movement in the morning and that's it. But for the last two or three years, I've been going two or three times a day. Most of the time, when I eat even a small amount of food, I have to go about a half hour later. Stool is solid. I have no other symptoms.

I m a 68 year old man in good health. In a bm today after much straining to go I saw what looked like a half teaspoon amount of red blood at the end of the last stool. My stools are often hard.....could the stool have scratched the intestine? Do you think this is a sign of trouble...... although this was a first time thing.
