It doesn't really mean anything. Providing your heart rate is regular its unlikely to be anything to worry about. Too much empathises is given on heart rates having to be within a certain range. Are you taking any medication at present? If you are very fit and athletic, your heart rate will be lower than average. Mine is about 46. I've actually seen some cardiologists giving drugs to people just because their heart rate is slightly outside what is considered 'normal' range. It's only as I study more I have come to realise just how unnecessary it is. Unless you are experiencing any other symptoms, there is nothing to worry about.

What is the average heart rate of adults and the common variation? I have a resting rate while sitting or reclined of about 48 to about 52, And, it s very regular. It s been this rate most of my life, except when I ran a dozen marathons (7.3 min/mile), including Boston. It used to be 35 during that time (about (about 50 years old) cardiologists said it was okay and not to worry. Now, I am 81 and in excellent health --only take statin until 6 months ago and now take a BP medicine to bring it down from 140/70 to 130/65. I have given blood for 25 years every two months, now every three months. Is that okay? At this age, I am still an entrepreneur, not starting companies (but too old to be CEO) One is a way of diagnosing AD maybe 30 or 40 years in advance and using one of half-dozen ways of preventing it. I have noticed that in the past 6-8 months my heart rate has increased especially upon wakening and during the day. I am a male age 67 and a year ago my average heart rate was 65-78 and now I average 80-92. It also fluctuates when I take my blood pressure in the mornings. Is this normal?

My blood pressure is excellent, but I woke up last night with a pulse rate of 111. my husband stated go to the ER. My EKG was good, the heart monitor was good, it went down to 87, 82, but I do have a thyroid problem, think that could be the problem. The doctor also stated I had a heart mummer?? that was new :( but can you help me. Then she stated they may be given me to much thyroid medication.
