IS It Normal For Child's Stool To Have White Balls After Eating NAN Formula?

Hi there, My name is Jacqui. my 4 month old son was breast fed for 7 weeks and then i had to put him on formula. He has been on Nan since then, which i have had no problems. just a few days ago we changed the type of nan he was on, to a new improved one they say (i dont have the details sorry) it seems to be a bit of a thicker formula, he doesnt gulp the formula down anymore, he drinks then stops then starts again. i just saw in his stool, which is a very dark green in colour. A little loose but not too bad - pretty normal in texture, but then it had a lot of tiny white balls in it? that is what i am concerned about - should i go back to the previous nan he was on. or is this normal? Thank you very much.

Hi Jacqui,

The stool of your baby very dark green in colour could be related to the formula you are feeding her, which might be also iron-fortified.

With regards to the tiny white balls you see, it could be related to iron-fortified formula.

So, I'd suggest to change her formula milk according to her age and to see what is happening.

If still the same things, should consult pediatrician for further assistance.

All the best!
