IS HDL Of 106 Too High?

yes I had my cholesterol tested and it was cholosterol 311 hdl 90, cho/hdl ratio 3.5, ldl 111, trigkyceride, my doctor put me on medicine for high cholosterol and now it is 231 hdl 106, ratio 2.2, ldl 113, triglyceride 59. When I look at my ratio its good but my hdl is over 106, is that too high? Also should I be on medicine since ratio is good?

Hello and thank you for using HCM.I carefully read your question and I understand your concern. You shoud not worry. I'll try to explain you something and give you my opinion.

You should know that cholesterol target levels depends on some factors like your age and other associated rics factors like hypertension , diabetes , smoking and hereditary history of high cholesterol levels.

There are two categories of cholesterol, the ldl cholesterol that is responsible for bed effects and hdl cholesterol that it is responsible for good effects on our body or protective against cardiavascular disease.

So, when me treat high cholesterol we intend to lower total and ldl cholesterol and rise hdl cholesterol as much as possible.

So, you should not worry.Your high hdl is a good cholesterol or a protective fraction.

Your goals should be to lower total cholesterol below 180 mg / dl.You should try through diet or discuss whith your doctor to rise the antilipidic dosage.

Hope I was helpfull.
Best regards.
