INR Reading Low. Taking Warfarin For Mechanical Aortic Valve. Will Increasing Dose Help?

My INR reading was a bit low, am taking Warfin for a mechanical aortic heart valve. I usually stay between 2.0 and 3,0 but was recent reading was 1.5. Doctor wants me to increase dosage from 5 to 6 mg which I think is too much (20%) Last time I increased my dosage that much, I bed out (about 12 years ago) Your comment?

Dear Sir
Thanks for writing to HCM.
Your doctor is perfectly following the guidelines by advising you an increase of 20% in warfarin dose when INR is 1.5. Since this could prove to be a dangerously low INR, warfarin dose has to be increased and 20% is a recommended increment.
Definitely , your physician will be monitoring for excessive rise in INR and for bleeding episode. That is always a calculated risk but he is correct as per guidelines.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
