IBS, Constipation When Relaxed, Not When Stressed. History Of Colitis. Treatment?

I m a woman 63yrs of age and I have been suffering off and on for the past year with all of the symptoms of IBS except I m constipated. It seems like I have bouts of this when I m relaxed and not dealing with pressures. When I was 16 to 22 yrs of age I had colitis . I m told that I m too old to be having IBS. What do you think?

Please visit a good colorecta surgeon-pProctologist to rule out O.D.S (obstructive defecation syndrome) or diverticular disease. You may need anorectal manometry, MRIDefecography & colonoscopy for getting correct diagnosis as treatment of constipation is available (STARR Surgery) rather than just being labelled as IBS and left to just symptomatic treatmen.
