I Was Suffering From Some Salivary Gland Tumour Pleomorphic Adenoma ,please Give Clarification On This!

there was a swelling on my right cheek, near the ear. it started some 3 to 4 years back. it steadily increased in size. now it has filled the entire right cheek. there is no pain and no discomfort at all any time.now it has grown so big i consulted a doctor as it was cosmetically disturbing. he put a needle in the swelling and took some tissue. sent it to laboratory for analysis. the report came as i was suffering from some salivary gland tumor pleomorphic adenoma.. it needs a major surgery. now i am really worried. i never smoked. no alcohol also. than why did i get this tumor. doctor say it is not to worry but they say that it needs a major surgery. i am worried.some body tell me what is this tumor

no that is a different disease that affect both cheek and balls. this is pleomorphic adenoma. it is tumor not harmless. fairly common. it is not a cancer. it affects salivary gland. it needs to be completely removed in surgery otherwise it will grow again. i know about this disease.my friend also had this. this tumor grows near a nerve so only it is major surgery. problem is more for doctor than patient as he needs to be very careful regarding the nerve near the tumor.

my sister also had this pleomorphic adenoma.but in her lower lip. she is just 38 years. it was a small pea like structure in her lower lip.it was also increasing its size slowly. our physician refered to a surgeon. he removed that and a test was performed on that. the result is shocking. it was pleomorphic tumor but some other cancer was also present in it. i dont remember the name. doctor said there is a cancer inside a tumor, lucky she is as she came earlier to hospital. so you also get it removed and test the removed sample

I had exactly the same problem and got the parotid gland removed (near right ear). It is ten years that this surgery is done, and I'm fine ever since then. The surgery however leaves a scar as the body was cut open. Even I do not have any bad habits, but this happened to me and that too at the age of 17, and got it removed back then itself. I'm now 28, and no side effects.

However the doctor was verifying if there was any hearing loss, and whether I could urinate properly back then. One side effect is that my ears are not symmetrical now :) Dont worry it is not awkward. This can be made out only when I stare at mirror/ passport-size photograph.

One of my friends suggested me to try homoeopathy, but the surgery was done by then.
