I Was Released From The Hospital Today. I Went In

I was released from the hospital today. I went in through the ER 2 days ago. I know I have C?OPD. I strted seeing a doctor about this around 15 days ago. I am extremely happy with her. She started me on Trelegy with a 10 day supply of amoxicillin ad 10 day gradually decling dosage of prednisone and a rescue inhaler. That was 15 days ago. Around 6 years ago I lost a lot of weight, I went from around 165 down to 125. I can't find a doctor who can figure out why. Then after seeing this new doctor and starting the new regime I gained 4 lbs. and didn't lose it in about a week. I was working, (I'm a surveyor), waliking several miles a day. Everything was going good. Two days ago things fell apart. As I was driving in to work I became nauseous and extremely short of breath. They admitted me and the closest explanation that I got was COPD with some kind of viral infection. While in the hospital I was given IV steroids, nebulizer treatments, breathing exercises, mucinex 600, and more prednisone. My appetite is good and I have actually gained another 6 lbs. in the last few days. Something I have been unable to do for the last 6 years. Also the new doctor sent me for an upper respiratory cancer screening and said she would see me in 2 months if there were no problems. I'm assuming the cancer screen came back OK as I was not contacted by her office and it was over 10 days ago. My problem is that the decision to leave was left up to me and I stayed one more day than they expected but no complaints.I did not see the doctor, any doctor, again there before I left, just an intern who introduced herself and left. Here is my prooblem; last week I walked somewhere over 80 miles in a week on my job. I came home tonight and almost blacked out climbing a normal staircase in my house. I've used my rescue inhaler 3 times since I got home and cannot lie down to sleep as it is impossible to breathe. I live 30 miles from town and it is quite a drive to get me back in if I even can. I am 62 and I accept that I screwed up by smoking for so long, I have quit but only in the last 20 days so no benefit there. I am not looing for sympathy, but I have a sick wife and need to make sure that she can be OK if something happens to me. I did ask but just got the COPD answer. If I am dying, as a consequence of my own actions, should I not be informed? I'm not out to sue anyone, but I have an employer that needs some answers, a wife who is scared to death, and other matters that
Ineed to prepare for. Any thoughts?
