why does one sometimes wake up and lose feeling and movement of the right hand completely. Is it a stroke.? When one wakes up the right arm and hand is completely useless, without any feeling and unable to move. When I use the left hand to lift it up and move it then it returns to normal. Does it mean I suffer a stroke during sleep or is a nervous ailment. What is the cause? What shall I do to avoid or treat this condition.

I constantly suffer with headaches especially when I wake up in the mornings. I have had a brain scan and have also had monitors fitted overnight to check for other problems. Nothing conclusive has been diagnosed. I very often feel completely drained and lethargic. Hypnic headaches have been suggested but no remedy has been offered. I have always struggled with constipation so to ease the problem have been taking 2 small squares of ex lax chocolate every night for about 10 years or so. I am at my wits end. I have mention the ex lax to my GP and he said he did not think it would present a problem. Do you think the laxatives be the problem? Alternatively can you suggest what the problem may be?
