Any body with a heart problem must watch the diet - there are several suggestions based on your pressure, fat (cholesterol), weight etc. Generally, weight reducing, low cholesterol, low salt diets are the hallmarks. Smaller quantities, more number of times and avoiding late night food are the standard
There is no special objection to apple sauce! Especially home made! You say, you like it / Does your spouse not like it? Generally, fresh fruits are better - no preservative; less salt and so on
On the lighter side - Have you heard the old saying? - An apple a day keeps the doctor away! As a corollary, shying away from apple, the doctor may be on the way! Enjoy apple! Have a great day
Good luck

Depends on what's in it that's not good. If you buy the commercial stuff, then try to make it from scratch eliminating the stuff that 's not good for you - like sugar, salt, etc. Try for some recipes.
