I have super dry eye and really red bruised areas, could my eye surface be damaged ?

I had a dry eye test today (Schirmer test). I have Ehler's Danlos's Type 3 (Connective Tissue Disorder). When they took the strips out of my eyes it was very ripping off eye surface. Now have super dry eye and really red bruised areas where the strips were. Could my eye surface be damaged?

Connective Tissue Disorders lead to dry eyes. You will have to use lubricant eye drops frequently- may be 4-6 times a day or more than that. Corneal & conjunctival epithelia are more likely to get damaged easily. Take following precautions-

. Blink eyelids frequently. This keeps eye surface wet & reduces discomfort due to dryness. Using a lubricant eye ointment at night is a good idea. Get Schirmer's test, tear break-up time test done from Ophthalmologist. This will give an idea about severity of dry eye

. Blinking is very important especially during working on laptop or watching TV when we tend to stare at screen & forget or delay blinking

. Keep your connective tissue disease under control by following treatment suggested by physician

the health of epithelium is always at risk in connective tissue disorders.since the problem is in the same area of strip it is likely that some injury has occurred. It is safe to use lubricant eye drops.

I am really not understanding you dude? But with connective tissue problems, I feel you are more prone to damages. So get it confirmed. Eyes are really very important for anyone.
