I have c4-c5 degeneration plus stenosis (actually total spine is compromised) and I find when I walk up stairs or uphill I can t get a full breath. Just get a tightness across upper back and very poor mobility. Spine specialist says I am not a good candidate for surgery. I do not have and have never had lung problems. I m 72 and spine problems began with arthritis when I Was 19 years old. General health is very good--some slightly high bp that is controlled with meds. I also take low dose of prozac and xanax on occasion because neck/back discomfort caused me great anxiety.

When it is cold and damp and I walk fast or uphill I get pain in the glands under my jaw. In warm dry weather it s no problem at all. I thought I was just unfit but knowing it s affected by the weather and knowing I get runny noses and have to breath through my mouth which results in shallow breathing and out of breathness - don t know how to unpick the trouble and where to start to sort it...

Hi Doctor, I am a 42 years old unmarried female. My bp is 95/61. Every time I start to walk (as exercise for 20 minutes) in the evening, I feel short of breath at the beginning 5 minutes, after that I breath okay. I usually feel tired (even I do not do any hard work in the day). What should I eat in my daily meals to make my blood pressure higher?
