I have severe cervical stenosis C4-6 and arthritis at multiple levels. I also have bad jaw pain which "seems" to radiate from the neck. I believe my bad neck is causing spasms into my jaw. My case seems to be worse than they, the surgeons, have ever seen. No TMJ. I have had extensive testing. Jaw CT and MRI showed minor arthritis which the oral surgeon (3) said should not cause this much pain. Cervical MRI is bad, facet syndrome. I am currently in pain management and on Gralise, Cymbalta and Metaxalone. Still in pain. I get Botox every 12 weeks in neck and jaw, and rhizotomies every 7 months or so. I am really trying not to take narcotics but it's bad pain. I am now disabled, although SS is of course fighting me. Recently one neurosurgeon recommended surgery and one said no. UGH! I am a nurse and the care out here stinks. No coordination, no one seems to care. Anyway..thoughts?

I m looking for a seasoned neurosurgeon who can take my case ASAP. I have been dx ed with spinal stenosis, cervical arthritis...(fusion necessary ASAP), lower spine arthritis that s causing extreme pain upon standing longer than 5-10 mins. My sciatic nerve is beginning to become irritated while I m walking after sitting. Neuropathy is almost unbearable as are the leg spasms, cramps, etc. I saw the surgeon connected to Franklin Sq Hosp several months ago, was uncomfortable with him but understood when he said the cervical spine was in serious need of surgical correction. I have had a few episodes when I thought the numbness in an arm and leg was not going to dissipate.

I was told today that my neck MRI showed degenerative arthritis. I have severe psoriasis on over 75% of my body. However, I have never been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis . Could this mean I DO have it? It also showed severe stenosis ...I think he said at C6-C7. Anyway, my main concern is...should I see a rhematologist?

Three weeks of severe unrelenting pain. Take 5mgm Vicodin/Beclofin bid with only some relief. I have disc disease at L3.4.&5 with bilateral stenosis and arthritis. Have been offered surgery many times but being an M.D. myself not comfortable with the risk/reward ration of surgical options given my age now of 79. Now having an acute attack at L3/4 with psoas involvement and severe pain. Injections somewhat helpful in the past. No signiicant pain in the last 5/6years. Reached down for something and bang! Recently diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 treated with diet, exercise and Metformin 500mgm bid with A1C 5.7.. Am being offered Medrol pack for attempt at immediate relief. My spine surgeon out of the country for another month. Also concerned re: blood sugar issues with Medrol. Please comment, Many thanks, J. Lowitz, M.D.
