Your blood pressure is probaby already low and when you donate it lowers even more. I always was under the impression that high blood pressure gives you headaches, but I supposed low blood pressure can do the same, but you should check with your doctor to make sure there isnt anything else going on.

I recently attempted to donate blood at a Red Cross blood drive but was advised not to donate when my blood pressure registered at 80/50. My readings are normally around 108/70 or within two to three degrees within this range. What causes low blood pressure and are there any symptons?

Age 60; height is 5' 6"; weight is 130. I have had low BP all my life (even after brain surgery because of 2 anyersums (sp) April, 2007)... BP at it's highest has been 132/70; however yesterday it jumped to 151/86 with a pulse of 76 (I was about to donate blood). The only medication I'm taking is Depakote ER 250mg because of one seizure Jan 2008. Concern or just monitor?
