My wife hit her head a week ago and there s blood oozing out of the bump. The bump hurts a lot and even though she took Tylenol for the pain the Tylenol didn t ease the pain. My wife went to the hospital right after she fell and had a CAT scan. She was told the damage was between her scalp and bone in her head and not on her brain. I don t think she was tested for having a concussion and I think she s feeling the effects of a concussion that wasn t diagnosed. My wife has been experiencing aphasia every day since her fall and often times doesn t know with whom she s speaking, especially when any of her two daughters call her. She complains of pain in her head all the time since the fall She talked with her rheumatologist about this last Thursday and he had her stop taking Gabapentin and reduce her dosage of Zolpedem from 20mg to 10mg once a day. My wife will be 80 in December 2014 and prior to this fall and the bump on her head she was more cognizant than she is now. I want her to get an appointment to see her primary care doctor tomorrow, but she s resistant to doing so. I want the pain to stop as her wailing keeps me and her up all night. The only way either of us get any sleep is to eat breakfast and then fall asleep for about four hours. We are both sleep deprived now and I m at my wits end trying to learn what is the best for my wife. She is usually more aware of everything going on around her. I think she is suffering from aphasia and doesn t know she is. The Zolpedem she s taking has the long term side effects of causing mini strokes. It is my thinking, she may be suffering the effects of a mini stroke or more than one mini stroke, especially after falling and bumping her head on the floor. By the way, she doesn t recall the fall. I want to take her to the emergency room now, but she says no, and will wait and see what her doctor has to say tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 6, 2014. Thank you for any response to my question, and since I m sleep depraved, I don t recall what is my question.
