I Have Had Swelling In My Legs

I have had swelling in my legs and ankles for the past two weeks.? As well as shortness of breath ever so often. I was lying down in the tanning bed the other day and got extremely short of breath and had to flip over to be able to breathe. I went to the emergency room that night for the swelling and shortness of breath. They told me after they performed blood tests, that I was fine and just had edema. I didn t think at the time that I should have told them at one point I was diagnosed with borderline mitral valve prolapse. I didnt think it had anything to do with a heart condition. Well today I went to the doctor again because the swelling has been coming and going since then. It s not bad swelling, just mild to moderate. So in probably 2003 i was diagnosed with the borderline prolapse of the mitral valve. And I had an echocardiogram about two years ago while i was pregnant and there was NO sign of MVP. So my question is can this syndrome kinda go dormant. Or do you think there is something else causing this? I m so worried. I am only 26 and take care of myself.

thanks for the query,
well borderline mvp means you had not developed it and during pregnancy it is very common for the heart to show such changes as there is excess of load on the heart, but i think it would be better if you got an echocardiogram done so as to rule out any cardiac cause for the edema that you are developing, also get renal function tests and your Blood pressure checked.
take care.
