I have had blood in my stools at times. I don t know if I should be worried or not. its not a lot, its streaky. I do have external hemorrhoids since I have my son. Could it be possible i have internal ones or something more serious. Its not every time i pass.

Hello;
welcome to HealthcareMagic
If you are passing fresh red blood then it is probably from the piles internally.If you are having external piles you will surely have internal ones as well.If the blood is not more in quantity and if it is occassional then no reason to get worried.Just in case if the quantity increases please get examined by a surgeon and get treated.As a precaution you need to keep in mind few things:-
-eat food rich in fiber so that the stools become soft and avoid excess fatty;oily and spicy food.
-do not strain excess during stools.
-go for stools only when you have sensation for and don't sit for it too long.
These things will help reduce the internal swelling and you will not have bleeding so often.
Thanks

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Thanks for your query
The seriousness of matter depends on your age. If you are an elderly person, it could be a cause of concern. If you are young, it may be related to internal hemorrhoids (piles) or a fissure which troubles intermittently. Generally fissure also causes pain during passing motion.
A surgeon needs to examine you. You are likely to be benefitted by laxatives, to soften your stools.
Take care
