What Is The Time Required For Recovery From Cellulitis?

I have been treated for cellulitis, 8 days in the hospital, 8 days in a nursing home, and 7 days at home. My right calf and ankle are still hard and swollen. I have been wearing a compression sock that covers my whole leg, but it doesn t seem to reduce the hardness and swelling. I have been to a massage therapist who has tried to loosen up the hardness and swelling. I was wondering if there was anything else I could possibly do to get my leg to heal faster and better?

Hi,

I can understand your concern about the slow reduction of swelling and hardness. You must have taken proper antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs given by your doctor... The response may take a few weeks .. so do not worry. Just take bed rest with elevated legs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel, Dermatologist
