I have been having spasms in my lower abdomen area

I have been having spasms in my lower abdomen area the last few days which I have never experienced before. They don't hurt, they startle or sort of 'tickle'. I think its more internal maybe than muscle but not sure. They aren't constant. I am 66, female. I was just started on a baby aspirin and low dose statin (crestor) on Sept 16. Other than that I don't know of anything else that's different.

Yesterday, I had a spasm (what actually felt like a contraction) in my lower left abdomen. This was followed by a fist sized knot in the same area and was 6 on the pain scale. When the knot developed, it kind of felt like a baby moving during the last trimester of pregnancy. After a few minutes, the knot went away, but the area is still tender. Should I be worried?

for 4 years, i have been having lower abdominal spasms(no pain). it occurs at night when I m in bed. i also have discomfort in the abdomen away from the spasm area (which is near the groin on both sides) and what feels like a hardness around my belly button... almost donut shaped. i have had 2 ultra sounds... both were normal. my annual physical was normal also including blood work. any ideas?
