Can I Drink A Glass Of Wine Every Evening After Being Diagnosed With Clostridium Difficile?

I have been diagnosed with C Diff. After nearly two and a half months of severe diarea Doctors put me on Vancomyacine. It did not work. We consulted carefully and decided to have a fecal transplant. That was 10 days ago and I have improved greatly, but still have a ways to go. I am no longer on any anti biotic, but am on an almost impossible Glutin free, Dairy free diet. I need a positive boost bad. Can I drink a glass of red wine each evening without setting every thing back again. Thank You very much Don

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the red wine will alter your gut flora with cytochrome P450 enzyme pathway of the liver creating more difficulties in your better recovery.

And so any amount of red wine intake till complete recovery is strongly discarded on medical grounds.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
