Why Do I Have A Tender Swollen Boil While Being Treated For An Abscess Tooth?

I have an abscess tooth which is being treated with penicillin, I have developed a firm boil that’s tender and surrounding area is swollen. What could it be and what can I do to reduce it? Abscess is on top of my mouth and the swollen area is right above it. Feels like pus

Hi,

It is because of antibiotic resistance this pus has accumulated. This is called antibioma formation. This occurs particularly after taking penicillin. You need to stop taking medication particularly antibiotics and get tooth treated by a dentist. After treatment by pus drainage and other dental procedures, you don't require any medication. In the meantime, start lukewarm salt gargles for few days, it will help in pus drainage.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
