Hello,

You have torn a bicep tendon. You can move your arm but it is painful when you try to move it in a certain way. You are suggested to get clinically examined, get an Ultrasound or MRI done to study the details of the type of injury. Yes, it can heal on its own but depends upon the type & extent of injury.

A complete tear will sever the tendon into two places thus taking a longer time to heal. This type of bicep tear may also require surgery to reattach the tendon and regain strength and function of the arm. Partial tears damage part of the tendon but do not completely sever it. Give the affected arm rest as performing a repetitive motion with a partial tear may cause the torn tendon to fray and cause a complete tear.

Rest and icing with NSAIDS will help relieve discomfort and pain. You can get connected to a Physical therapist, you may need rehabilitation exercises to strengthen muscles and restore the range of motion in the arm. Get clinically examined by a GP, if needed you will be recommended surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
