Is It Common For A Guitar Player To Have Small Painless Lumps On The Fingers?

I have a small bump on a blood vessel at the very base of my thumb. It s aggravating when I play guitar as the bump hits against the neck of the instrument. I am wondering what that bump is and what I can do about it? I have had it for several months. Doesn t really hurt unless it makes direct contact with something (e.g., like my guitar)

Hello,

I should have a look at the bump myself before running into final conclusions. However, from what you are describing, it seems that the bump is thickened skin due to frequent friction when you play guitar.

If confirmed, then, should apply salicylic acid cream should be applied to remove this extra thick skin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
