Is A Growing Fluid Filled Skin Tag On The Thumb A Serious Concern?

I have a skin tag it has been there for years and was always kinda flat. In the last mouth or so it puffed up got big around as my end of my tumb and is now got clear fluid ozzing out of it should I have this check out of just remove the tag myself thanks

Hello,

You have a skin tag for years on the thumb. In recent years it has grown and is causing discomfort. Since the skin tag is oozing fluid, it is infected. You are suggested to get it cleaned and antiseptic dressing done in the ER or by the healthcare provider. Take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and also analgesics, one stat when needed.

Your treating doctor will suggest biopsy done so that if malignancy is not diagnosed, the skin tag can be removed by surgery or by other therapy, like cryotherapy, electrocution, snipping and excision, etc. Get it done by the treating dermatologist, do not try to remove it by yourself.
