It is extraordinarily unlikely that a 20 year old would suffer from angina unless you have other risk factors such as diabetes, extreme obesity, or very heavy smoking, and even then it's not common at that age. Sharp pains with no other symptoms (eg breathlessness, sweating, anxiety) are quite likely to be muscular in origin. Do you get much exercise? Or do you spend a lot of time in front of the computer? Do you have good posture, or are people always telling you to stand up straight? Weak muscles and poor posture can lead to muscle pains in your chest, back and sides. If you're a woman, do you wear a supportive bra if you need one? (seriously, for women with medium or larger breasts, wearing an unsupportive bra leads to exactly these type of pains - and a male doctor won't think of it as a possible cause).

I was laying on the couch and I shift to the right then my chest started hurting on my left side. It felt like a sharp pain and it only happened when I moved or breathed in deeply. I got up and drank water and it went away. At first I though oh my gosh I m having a heart attack but I m 13 and that seemed unrealistic, is it just dehydration or is there something else!

Sharp pain in the left side of my chest that lasted about 5 min, my left arm was weak, was it a heart attack? Oh, and I m only 20 years old and I m only slightly overweight. I m so scared right now because my doctor is currently monitoring my blood pressure because he thinks I may have high blood pressure. I get these pains every once in a while, and they don t feel like a tightening, squeezing pain. They are just a sharp, pointing pain. Almost as if someone was poking me with a toothpick or something but from the inside. Oh yea, and I was feeling bloated, I don t know if that makes a difference.

HI i am a 18 yr old girl, i am 5 9 and i have a history of just basically bad allergies to dust and such. I also get bad ear aches and ear infections and i can admit i have bad posture but i don t believe any of that has to do with my problem. I notices when i cry i will get a sharp pain in my chest on the left side only that i just have to attempt to massage out but it really seems to have no effect. In fact since 8th grade i seem to have been getting a lot of problems dealing with sharp pains on my left side normally involving my chest near my heart at the top of my rib cage or at the bottom the rib cage problem though can transfer to the right side too. what do you think could be the reason for that?
