This sounds like sciatica, which is nerve pain caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve in your back (from a bulging disk in your spine -- a "slipped disk" -- or from other back injuries). The fact you are also experiencing numbness suggests to me that your sciatica is pretty severe. You should see a doctor -- physical therapy can make a HUGE difference in this condition, and anti-inflammatories and other medications and help as well. You don't need to keep suffering!

I was told that I had a irregular heart beat when I went to the doctor.? They were suppose to do an echo, the next day, but I did not go. Thought I was fine. That was two yrs ago. I am having back pain now, and I was also told to exercise because it was my muscles that need strengten. Today I was doing some exercise, when I felt a sharp pain like a bolt of lightening on the left side of my chest that last for about half a min. I sat in the chair until it went away, was scare, so now I am wondering if that is a sign something is really wrong with my heart. Not overweight, just lack exercise.

Heart, Throat, Stomach, and Nuero has been checked and everything is negative. What might this be.

Strange symptoms - me (56 yr old woman) Heart Issues? Does anyone have any knowledge? Yesterday afternoon at the same moment my daughter told me some not too good news (we were in a shopping center and her 4 yr old son had just had a chest x ray that turned out to be not very good) I started getting pain in the middle of my chest I thought hmm its because I have just driven 3hrs to get to the radiologist and I am stressed and having muscle spasm so I bought a bottle of water and took some strong pain killers which helped. When we drove back home (another 3 hrs I took more pain killers and went to bed not perturbed because I thought it was tension from my neck which I did have tension in. In the middle of the night I was aware briefly of some pain in my left arm and actually thought and dismissed heart problem? Waking up this morning still had the pain took more pain killers but now I have indigestion which although I take medication for (prescription) every morning I was suprised when it didn t work so took another 20mg and then later an over the counter med for indigestion. Now pain is pretty much gone but I am having a strange sensation happening in both my jaws just below ears. I am thinking what the hell is going on if anything is this just full on stress reaction? I could make an appointment to see an after hrs doctor tonight but don t want to obviously be taken for a hypochondriac so I am wondering if anyone can give me their ideas I realize no one is a doctor but if this series of events had happened over the past 24hrs or so to someone else out there what would they be thinking? Because I figured heart attack pain is sudden but doesn t last as long as the pain I had I am reluctant also to go to the doctor. Any ideas welcomed. PS I am 56 yrs old on meds for hypertension annoying irregular heart beat and cholesterol lowering meds which do the job.

For the past 4 days, my blood pressure has been running anywhere from 130/95 to 120/102. My blood pressure is usually normal (typically 120/78 or so). I have high cholesterol and a family history of heart disease & am 51. What I don t understand is the numbers being close together. My last reading was 119/102.

I am a 44 year old male with a family history of hyperlipidemia and heart disease. My father had a AMI at age 50 and expired. His father expired at age 51 with an AMi. Both were sudden death. I had a Cardiac CTA yesterday which revealed a calcium score of 252. The report revealed a 70-80% blockage to the middle of the LAD with about 50% occlusion on both of the ends. Seeing a cardiologist tomorrow. What do you think the treatment will be for this?

I recently had an ECG after an abnormal EKG. The ECG showed vent. rate 108bpm Sinus tachycardia, PR interval 158 ms, possible left atrial enlargement, QRS duration 88 ms , nonspecific ST abnormality, QT/QTc 368/493 ms, abnormal ECG, P-R-T axes 70 48 58 and prolonged QT. The cardiologist didn t seem very concerned and felt the abnormality was because of the medication I was taking - remeron for sleeping; I suffer from chronic insomnia. I have been on this medication for over two years and have never had any side effects or problems with it. In the past three-four months, however, I have been experiencing chest pains, some severe which is why I went to my physician to get the first EKG which showed a fast heart beat and was referred to the cardiologist for an ECG, EKG and a stress test. I was only on the treadmill for maybe 4 1/3 minutes before I experienced SOB and chest pains. They repeated the ECG and I was told it was abnormal and to discuss my medications with my psychiatrist and that I had nothing to worry about. When I see abnormal ECG, EKG and am taking nitro tablets with a family history of heart disease (father COPD, CHF and angioplasty; grandfather died of a heart attack), I have a tendency not to believe the doctor. I have not even been contacted by my physician for a follow-up visit. Should I be concerned. Cancer also runs in my family; my father died of colon, liver CA and I am breast cancer survivor. I d appreciate your comments. Should I seek another opinion? Thanks, Mary Kopco YYYY@YYYY I am a 61 y.o. white female, 137 lbs w/ hx of cancer (bilateral mastectomy and hysterectomy for CA of uterus), osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, high cholesterol (328), allergic to any statin drugs, being treated with Zetia 10 mg 1 x/day. Presently taking nitro tabs for chest pain, oxybutityn for overactive bladder, clonazepam 1mg 3x/day for anxiety and depression. I look forward to your response. Thank you.
