Irrespective of what time I go to bed, presently working til 1.00 am in morning, in bed by 2.00am but usually am in bed before midnight, my problem is no matter the time, I wake up every night every two hours, and usually get up, go to the toilet and maybe have a small biscuit and drink of water be going back to bed. If I stay in bed I just do not get back to sleep. I read every night before turning out the light, and do not have anything on my mind. I feel very relaxed and get off to sleep quickly. Why am I waking up all the time and not sleeping for at least 6 - 7 hours at a time. I do a lot of exercise, and eat very healthy. I am slim and try to keep busy throughout the day. Please can I have an answer.

I constantly suffer with headaches especially when I wake up in the mornings. I have had a brain scan and have also had monitors fitted overnight to check for other problems. Nothing conclusive has been diagnosed. I very often feel completely drained and lethargic. Hypnic headaches have been suggested but no remedy has been offered. I have always struggled with constipation so to ease the problem have been taking 2 small squares of ex lax chocolate every night for about 10 years or so. I am at my wits end. I have mention the ex lax to my GP and he said he did not think it would present a problem. Do you think the laxatives be the problem? Alternatively can you suggest what the problem may be?
