I felt chest pain about 4 days ago. It lasted for 5-6 seconds and was like as if someone was prickling needles in my chest. On the 3rd day, I felt it again but it was relatively very mild. After a few hours of pain I felt as if I was ready to leave forever! It was not a heart attack as I am normal today, but I do have a problem of short breath from the past few months. I am scared about that incident. Don t know if it was angina like situation, clotting of my heart blood vessels or it was something else. I have seen on many online forums that heart pain doesn t occur in short pinching bursts and that it is a full heart squeezing pain. I am an IT professional and most of the time I remain sitting in one position with my tummy/ stomach folded. Please suggest something.

I am 42 years old and I was diagnosed with Stable Angina in May 2007, and put on Nitrodur Patch 0.4mg. I also went through an angiogram in June 2007, which showed Minimal blockages x2. My family doctor has stated that for someone my age that is Normal . (I had a complete Hysterectomy in 1999) I have gone through many test (stress test, Echo, EKG) everything has been returned as normal. My last EKG was done on April 22, 2008. The hospital reported to my family doctor that there were Minimal Ischemic changes , but my doctor has reviewed and stated that he is doubtful that I even have Angina. His Diagnosis is that more than likely my chest pains are due to heart burn or irritable Bowel Syndrome. I have also been told by hospital staff that I have a very low heart rate 50-55 BPM, But when I go see my family physician my heart rate has been anywhere from 56-86 BPM. What is the possibility of getting normal readings from all these tests and still have angina

I have recently been diagnosed with unstable angina. I have previously had an MI, I am 42, with a family history of Heart Disease and Type 2 Diabetes. I am a poorly controlled type 2 Diabetic, overweight and a smoker until 2 weeks ago. I have been told that a bypass or further angioplasty is not an option for me. I take about 24 tablets a day. Could I have a realistic estimation of life expectancy, as I`m guessing its not too good ?

have been having episodes of hypertension and cardiac pain. I spent Tuesday night in the ER getting blood work done, including a hs-CRP test which came back elevated at 7.4 mg/dL. I had a troponin test done that came back as slightly elevated (0.9 ng/mL). I also had an EKG which showed tachycardia (resting heart rate up into the 160s) as well as episodes of a-fib, and an echocardiogram which showed my left atrium was significantly thickened/larger than expected for a normal twenty year old. I was admitted to the cardiac unit over night for observation and given nitroglycerin for the pain as well as medication for my blood pressure. The blood pressure levels regulated somewhat, going down to average of 138/95 at discharge. They gave me a preliminary diagnosis of angina which is shocking since I m 20, of normal weight, have a healthy diet, and normal cholesterol. I ve been referred to a cardiologist and am scheduled for a stress test on Monday. What should I expect? What will the stress test show? Also, what does a enlarged left atrium mean? Is it serious? thanks!

I have had migraine headaches since I was 12 years old; I am now 65 years old. Everyone in my family has them, both maternal and paternal sides. We can trace them back to my great-grandmother. I have been using Imitrex since it came on the market....
