Hello. Thank you for writing to us. I have noted your concern. I will keep a possibility of Scabies if there is a history of extreme itching in his close contacts like friends and neighbours. Scabies is caused by a mite sarcoptes scabiei which causes extreme itching and is transmitted through direct skin to skin contact to others like family members, friends etc. Single, overnight, whole body application of 5%permethrin is usually sufficient to treat scabies. All the contacts should be similarly treated. I addition I will also suggest him to take an oral antihistamine e.g Cetrizine 10mg tab once every evening for symptomatic relief from itching.
